Friendship…No one explains it like a kid

The other night as I was tucking my five year old into bed she said, “Mommy, you know sometimes how when you’re with your best friend you feel like you’re with your Mommy?”

Probing a little deeper I said, “Yes, I think so, but what do you mean sweetie?”

“Well because you love your Mommy, so sometimes when you’re with your best friend you feel the same way.”

Smiling in the dark I sat back down on the edge of her soft pink bed, “Yes, because you feel happy and comfortable with your Mommy so you probably feel the same way with your best friend.

“Yep.” She said. “That’s how I feel when I’m with Ava.”

Oh love.

What has a child perfectly summed up for you lately?

Oh, so sweet. Teary eyed here. Thanks for that touching story.

Thanks so much Amy. It’s ever amazing to me the ungaurded way kids can get right to the heart of things sometimes.
