Today’s is a different kind of post because next week I’ll be away all week on a business trip and then on to Mexico for a much needed little vacation the following week. I will literally pull my rumpled button down tops and dry cleaned slacks from the suitcase I’ll be living out of for the next five days in convention center land and replace them with bathing suits, cover ups, and flip flops. It could be worse!
So today I will leave you with some reading recommendations and a few fun places to visit. If you are new to Good Life Road, or have been here but not been to the archives yet, I’ll start with a few selections from here. Then it’s on to some fun blogs and posts from other people. And even a couple of book recommendations.
Remember, to paraphrase the great Dr. Seuss, “no matter what happened yesterday, today is your day, you’re off to great places. You’re off and away!” See you back here in a couple of weeks! Hopefully at least a little decompressed and with more time to get back to regular posting. Wishing you happy travels too because even if you’re not going anywhere, the scenery is always whizzing by.
From the Good Life Road Vault:
1. Feeling blah? – Try this prescription for music as good medicine and for bringing on a flood of gratitude.
2. Want to get some writing done today? – Warm up with this ten minute timed writing exercise. You can read where mine led me and then do your own.
3. Have you been doing more seeking than being? Do you keep trying to satisfy or fill something but just don’t seem to be able to scratch that itch? I know that feeling…
4. Do you reveal your true self? Do you feel a sense of separateness when you talk with someone whose wall is up high? This is the Open Secret.
Other fun places to visit:
Welcoming what is to come – Mothering, letting go, and the beautiful ways we unfold on the journey.
Are you too tired to dream? – Sometimes we keep one foot on the brake as the other pumps the gas.
Pining for Fall – Even though Fall has now long since passed…I really enjoyed this one.

I just finished reading An Alter in the World by Barbara Brown Taylor and loved it. A beautiful book about finding the holy in our daily lives.
“No one longs for what he or she already has, and yet the accumulated insight of those wise about the spiritual life suggests that the reason so many of us cannot see the red X that marks the spot is because we are standing on it. The treasure we seek requires no lengthy expedition, no expensive equipment, no superior aptitude or special company. All we lack is the willingness to imagine that we already have everything we need. The only thing missing is our consent to be where we are.” – Barbara Brown Taylor
Here are a few other books I’ve recommended since beginning my writing adventure here. Hopefully you’ll find something that touches you and if you are reading something right now that you love, please recommend it! I have found some of the best books through the recommendations of like minded souls.
