I’ve been a fan of wine based cocktails for as long as I’ve been drinking. They’re delicious, lighter on the alcohol, and extremely versatile.

Sangria falls into the wine based cocktail category but often calls for a dozen ingredients, with macerating and steeping time, and for that kind of effort you need to be making at least a few pitchers. But this little beauty can be made by the glass, hits the spot and is completely customizable.

Sangria by the Glass

This is the simplest sangria you'll ever make. The recipe fills one 10oz tumbler, and can easily be scaled up to fill a pitcher.

  • 5 oz Dry red wine - Pinot Noir and Red Zinfandel work well
  • 1 oz Triple Sec
  • 1 handfull Frozen berries I use Trader Joe’s Organic Mixed berry blend because I love the raspberry and blackberry mix in this drink but you can use any frozen berries you like.
  • 2-3 oz Soda water - I like La Croix Peach-pear but a plain soda water would be perfect too.


  • Add the ingredients to a 10oz tumbler and lightly stir to mix. 


You can moderate the sweetness by adding more or less soda water.
